General Information
Hours for arrival and departures:
WINTER WEEKEND HOURS (June 1st to August 31st):
Requests for either between these two slots or beyond these hours will be considered for an additional fee (between 10am and 4pm is $50).
Inspection is most welcome but please make a mutually suitable time first. Once we have passed your inspection we would like to offer your dog a free trial day to make sure they are suitable for us and what we offer.
Food supplied by Dinky Dogz is Acana (Orijen) dry food. Guests are fed twice daily. Owners can bring their own food if they desire but there is no discount on rate. Please name the food with both owner and guest names.
Guests must be up to date with their vaccinations including canine cough and supporting documents MUST be bought with you. Guests should be wormed and deflead within two weeks of boarding with Dinky Dogz and if the guest is in long term care enough flea treatment left with guest for further applications. Guests must be registered and have their own collar and lead left for their stay.
Dinky dogz does not board Staffy or Staffy cross dogs and have found Jack Russell and Fox Terriers traditionally do not do well here so will not be taking bookings for these breeds. Any aggression or issues whilst in care from your dog will be reported to you on your return and may affect any further reservations.
Male dogs over 8 months old must be desexed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have been going to Dinky Dogz since they opened. Originally we just went for daycare, this was instrumental in socializing our previously very timid dog. Our dogs are older now so we mainly use DK for boarding and it is a a true home away from home. DK owner's Michelle and Alan have created a wonderful purpose built building to house the dogs just below their own house, with couches, toys, even a wood burner for those cold nights. It is a bit of a journey to get there, at the top of the Belmont Hill in Lower Hutt, but most dog care businesses are similarity out of the way, to allow for inevitable noise. If you have a small dog they will love Dinky Dogz.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Michelle and Alan are great and our dog Koda loves them. Michelle and Alan are very professional, helpful, friendly, reliable, open, honest and gives us great advice. When we are away out of town or overseas, I don’t worry much about Koda because we know that he is very well looked after. I would recommend Michelle, Alan and Dinky Dogz to anyone with a small breed dog.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The one doggy hotel for complete peace of mind. I have just never come across any boarding facility that is so caring and serious about dogs’ well-being. They even took care of my Schnauzer who severely injured her leg the day before we flew overseas. Michelle was still prepared to take her in and cared for her like her own. Taking her to hospital for surgery and caring for her till we returned. My Vet sang Michelle’s praises on how well Michelle took care of this vulnerable little creature and the knowledgeable and interest that she displayed. The only downside I guess is that my little Miniature Doberman falls so much in love with Alan every time they stay there that I am sure she will rather stay with him than coming home if she had a choice ?

By the time we were at the bottom of the drive he was crashed out on the back seat after an exciting 3 days/2 nights. Thanks so much for looking after our boy.
