★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great location, so close to the esplanade in Kaikoura, yet far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet and admire the views. The rooms are spacious and tidy and the kitchen and dinning (indoor and outdoor areas) are very well set out. The hostel is surrounded by pleasant gradens and even has a hot tub. The staff were pleasant and the cost was quite reasonable. Definitely worth a look if you are planning in staying in Kaikoura.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is simply amazing. The people here are really nice and kind and the whole place has a very family like atmosphere. You can see the mountains and the sea from the kitchen area, the view is amazing and I can recommend getting up to see the sunrise. It's a very clean hostel and the hot pool is super cosy. They also have an adorable cat. Of all the hostels I have been to this one will always hold a very special place in my hart <3

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not flash but definitely a great experience. Jess was lovely and welcoming and the view delightful. Stayed in a 6 bed dorm and still had a great experience and sleep. Would def recommend staying here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Even though my overall experience of Kaikoura was disappointing my stay at Dolphin Lodge was comfortable and the staff were amazing, Sharon went above and beyond and took me on a little ride around the town, gave me some info and took me to the seal colony and offered a ride to the supermarket if needed... She also felt for me for my situation with the whale watching tours..I had the dorm to myself the lodge is clean and has a great view and it is quiet really recommend this lodge to locals and backpackers . And if I ever go back to Kaikoura by some miracle even though scared the tours will keep being cancelled again.. I'll definitely stay here again... Thank you

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My stay was alright, facilities fine. Unfortunately hearing the owner spout her anti-vaccine rubbish was a reminder of my grandma who died from COVID-19 in the UK, so that ruined my breakfast

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed one night and not impressed with manager. Activist against COVID vaccine. Felt unsafe. Unvaccinated staff not wearing masks. Manager Sharon kept going on about anti vaccine rules and anti government. Felt uncomfortable and would not recommend or stay again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Another great find. Good prices from shared dorms to single and double rooms. Comfortable and welcoming. Above the town centre by the Presbyterian church.
Wander down the track to town. Opposite the Tourist information centre. Easy beach access. Do your laundry too! I'll be back for sure!!
