I booked a haircut at the Newmarket salon with one of the senior stylists. However, when I got there I had to wait 25 minutes which was quite stressful because I had to go to work after the appointment and I was worried I'd be late. When they eventually got to me, it was not the stylist I had originally booked with. I showed the stylist a photo of what I wanted and they advised against it because it was not 'in style at the moment'. I didn't understand the reasoning but I got quite self-conscious and so just went with what they suggested instead which was somewhat similar. While they were doing my hair they kept glancing at their previous client which they had passed off to another stylist and when that client went to pay and leave, my stylist left me for another 10 minutes to say goodbye/chat with them. I understand that it's important to complete the experience with your client but considering they'd already started late on me, it made the experience that much more stressful. On top of everything else, the haircut was uneven. Although they charged me less than what I had expected to pay (because I wasn't paying for the senior stylist I'd originally booked with) it was still ridiculously overpriced for the experience I had. Tea was good though so there's that I guess.

I visited Dry and Tea Newmarket for a “dry style” option (I was asked to turn up with my hair clean and dry for them to style) back in March for a wedding I had on. It was such a bad experience that I feel compelled to write a review months later. I went in there and requested a simple loose wave. I whipped up a few photos when this request was met with serious confusion. I suggested maybe a larger curling iron as I’ve had many hairdressers achieve this look that way in my hair. I was told they didn’t have curling irons and she proceeded to use a straightener to create a really odd look with big lines and kinks. I’m not fussy, but it was obviously not working. Now the lady doing my hair was clearly a junior, and she was obviously really out of her depth here. I honestly felt bad for her, it was her first week and none of the other stylists stepped in to support her until she desperately grabbed another stylist who abruptly asked her to go elsewhere (instead of actually teaching the poor girl) and then proceeded to do my hair without trying to hide her annoyance. I seriously felt so uncomfortable as we sat there in silence. I briefly explained what I had requested as I don’t feel like it was that outrageous lol and she was still super rude and annoyed. Now I’m running late and I can’t wait to get out of this bad vibe of a place. An hour after leaving, my hair had completely dropped out and friends could not believe that I had paid to get my hair done. Turns out they all knew people who had had bad experiences too. Long story short - I would not recommend Dry and Tea. Focus on training and supporting your staff and maybe get some more hot tools if you are offering a styling only service without a blow wave. Also, be a little more pleasant to your customers.

Amazing team (shout out to Paris, Max and Tammy) who always make me feel like a million dollars even when I rock in looking like death on a stick. Just lovely environment, great hair advice and lots of laughing. ❤️❤️❤️❤️?

Had such a bad experience that I also feel compelled to write a review a few months later. Went in with a clear hair style in mind and photo examples (just wet look hair down, simple.) the stylist proceeded to go on about different up dos and semi updos. I agreed for a semi up do that was curly, stock standard enough to get a classic elegant look rather than the stylised look I was going for. Thought id just do something that would be within their skill level, that they would be comfortable of doing a good job of. The result was an up-do (not a semi that had been agreed) that my 80yo dance teacher used to wear.. I’m in my 20s. There was nothing elegant or chic about it, I wanted to leave without paying but didn’t make a big deal out of it as thought I could just take it down and redo it myself. Didn’t end up having time after makeup, so have photos of the night with the hair that now just bother me.

Great staff and beautiful salon. Max did a great job with my hair, leaving me with the perfect balayage. He worked with my hair as it is very dry and recommended me after care products and information to repair the damage. Staff were all friendly and personable. Walked out feeling great!

Had a booking for 4 of us for a wedding. Firstly they were late 30 mins for each one of us bookings and no apologies or compensation was made. Not only that, but my stylist was like I can’t do 5)3 hairstyle requested then other hairstylist wasn’t sure and was like yeah I will do it. It was worst hairstyle I ever had. DONT fool people and say you can do wedding group bookings while only 1 out of the 4 stylist can actually do wedding hairstyles. We were late and we ended up going back home and taking off the whole hairstyle and redoing it. It was horrible and stressful! No one wants that on their wedding day. Hairstylist were nice nothing wrong with them but they are not capable of doing wedding hairstyles nor managing group bookings as they were stressing and they were late on us!

Dry and Tea in Newmarket is a top notch place for having your hair done beautifully. The team here are the best in their field - professional, knowledgeable, attentive and very warm and welcoming. Dry and Tea is my beauty place and is my happy place - can't fault it. Max is my favourite hair stylist there and I can highly recommend him. He nails it every time! Merci Max!
