Dynamic Martial Arts was established in 2005 in Orewa and has been teaching on the Hibiscus Coast since our opening night Tuesday 16th August 2005.

Started by Dave and Gary Sawyer, the club is still overseen by Dave Sawyer 7th Dan as the head instructor, he deals with the running of the club and our black belt academy.

Our Kickboxing classes are run by Dynamic Martial Arts 2nd Dan Black Belts Riley, Mike and Casey. Our Adults boxing classes are run by Gareth.

Our People

Dave is our head instructor and oversees all training standards at Dynamic Martial Arts, however, his main role is now the World President of the WKA (World Kickboxing and Karate Association) which is one of the oldest and most recognised Kickboxing association worldwide.
Dave still likes to get on the mats as much as he can, but mainly works with the senior coloured belts and Black Belts.

Riley 2nd Dan WKA runs all the junior classes with assistance from Carolyn qualified junior boxing coach. Riley has immense experience as an instructor, along with representing New Zealand in 2015 taking part in the WKA Unified World Championships in Spain. She came home with Gold and Silver medals from the divisions she fought in. Riley is also a qualified judge and has been in the judges chair numerous times for many events.

Mike 2nd Dan WKA, runs our senior kickboxing classes. Like Riley, he has also represented New Zealand in 2017 where he was part of a team that competed in the UK at the ICO World Cup and the WKA Unified World Championships in Italy. Mike has been part of training fighters and is a coach of the Fight Girls program.

Casey 2nd Dan WKA, runs our Wednesday night Fight Girls class and also he is a coach of our Fight Girls programs. Casey has huge experience of various martial arts, including a passion for Muay Thai for which he has a lot of experience.

Gareth is a qualified Boxing coach with a vast amount of experience in the sport of Boxing. He has been involved in the sport for many years and he has a vast amount of experience taking fighters into the ring. Gareth runs all of our Adult Boxing program.
