★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Having suffered at the hands of movers before, in an industry that seems rife with horrific service, I spent many days talking our move through with the friendly CEO. I should have known that his refusal to allow any form of payment after their service was delivered should have been a warning. Lo and behold, on arrival overseas we discovered that valuable sculptures were packed in boxes un-protected next to carved stones (and were irreperably damaged), costly oil paintings we'd been assured would be handled carefully had been jammed down the sides of boxes, hats and clothes were at times used as packing material, a TV was crated when a £4000 oil painting we'd been promised would be, wasn't.... the list goes on. I'd never use them again. We're currently seeking redress, but I don't hold out much hope. This industry desperately needs someone who cares.... My advice? Spend a LONG time choosing your mover and absolutely insist on either escrow payment after unpacking or a similar deal that makes them financially committed to doing their job.
