About Falling Creek Ranch
Falling Creek Ranch is nestled on the top plateau’s of Okoia, only 15km from Wanganui, with views of Mt Taranaki, Mt Ruapehu, and the ocean. The 91 hectare property was purchased in 2017 to answer the call of a long time dream held by owners Zane and Mel Scott, to own a property where people can come enjoy the wide-open spaces, experience being on a farm, develop themselves, be accepted and grow in confidence, refine leadership skills, and create life long memories via an encounter with horses, the farming way of life and fun in the outdoors.
Falling Creek Ranch is a working farm that buys in and rears feeder calves in the spring and takes them through to 15-20 months old and we have a large string of horses inlcuding the brood mares and foals (45 last count!).
We offer treks, riding lessons, hoof trimming, starting/breaking in horses, reschooling, float training, QH stud, horse camps and clinics, even birthday parties and can tailor a package to suit you and your requirements. BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL.
HOW TO FIND US
639 Waikupa Road (6.39km up the road, on the left) On our drive way stay going straight. For anything to do with horses, head past the house and sheds down to the woolshed and roundpen. Park either at the house carpark or up at the old house or woolshed area. For camps, stop at the house.

We have had lessons with Zane, been on a beach trek and had him find a new horse and bring her back in work for us.
Rosie (9) also recently went to Kids Camp at Falling Creek with Zane and Mel. She had a fabulous time, from the riding to all the extra fun activities. She came back with so much enthusiasm and extra confidence and can't wait to go again!
I really appreciate Zane and Mel's friendly and welcoming approach and wonderful horsemanship. 11 out of 10!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I loved going to the kids camp recently. We rode every day and did lots of awesome activities. Mel and Zane are really kind and lots of fun. They run the camps very well , I am gluten and dairy free and they cooked separate food for me which I really appreciate. I had the most amazing week and am definitely coming back. Thanks Mel and Zane!

I highly recommend Falling Creek Ranch horse treks as a "must do" experience. The experience will make you want to go back time and time again ❤️

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I sent my youngster to Falling Creek Ranch to be started under saddle by Zane, at each stage Zane kept me notified of his progress and when the time came for me to come and ride him I was absolutely blown away by my young horse's confidence... I feel safe riding him... and he feels as if he enjoys his job... Zane has an incredible and rare talent...
Additionally, I have had the good fortune to attend one of Zane and Mel's weekend adult camps... we were treated to incredible accommodation...
beautiful home cooked meals... great entertainment and mind blowing scenery out on the trail... there was a considerable skill mix (a total learner on one of the ranch horses and at the other end of the scale seasoned and experienced horsemen and women on their own horses) - every skill level was well catered for.
I cannot recommend these wonderful people enough

The horses are honest, well looked after and a pleasure to ride. Would recommend for anyone who loves riding or is wanting to learn to ride. A pretty special experience!
