Our cafe grew from a lifelong passion for serving delicious food that makes people happy.
Just like our sister cafe, The Fat Pigeon, down the road in Pio Pio, our food is inspired by our Grandmothers’ kitchen and good, honest, kiwi-farmhouse hospitality.
We serve delicious fair-trade Ozone Coffee that’s world famous in Otorohanga!

β β β β β Very unorganized staff and kitchen. Waited an hour for the food. Kids food was bigger than the normal adult size plus a price difference of 10$. Have forgotten about three other people's food. Chips weren't fully cooked and only got one extra bacon, total of three.
Should have gone to McDonald's across the road. Pricing was ridiculously overpriced.

β β β β β We are really overwhelmed of how delicious and well displayed the foods are in your cafe. Despite being located in a small town (as compared to Auckland) , the overall service are very much pleasing. Itβs been such a pleasing to have a leisure time here during our trip down.

β β β β β Stopped in there for breakfast and it was busy but understandable due to it being a long weekend. I ordered the eggs Benedict. It was nice but the sourdough bread had a bit of an odd taste. A few hours later I got an upset stomach which was not pleasant as we were driving to Palmerston north from Auckland. Most likely won't go back there.

β β β β β Impromptu stop as the other cafes were closed on Good Friday. We totally enjoyed our food! Everything was very delicious. The energy ball was so packed with good stuff and it was very tasty! Also try the No Ugly Skin drinks!!

β β β β β Staff were super kind and friendly. Cafe clean and tidy. The food was delicious. We ordered the BB Waffles, BFK Big Breaky, chips and buttermilk chicken - yum.

β β β β β Firstly, go in open minded, despite the fact that you probably have already started to read the reviews.
I bought the b&b waffles and the presentation was ?. Very sweet with fresh tasting cream. The meal was worth the price I paid. Bananas and bacon were on!

I ordered a cake for my my mother's 80 birthday.
The staff were outstanding and helpful.
Right down to helping pack it safely for transport to Mount Maunganui.
Everyone was impressed with the special personal touches reflecting my mother's personality.
Above and beyond expectations.
The finest compliment any Baker can ask for.
Everyone going for seconds until not a crumb was left.
My apologies to staff and management.
I was about to send a post last week and was interrupted in the process and posted 2 stars
A reflection on my own technology fail.
Definitely not a reflection of the staff and quality of food served at the Fat Kiwi Otorohanga.
