★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very amazing if you've never seen glowworms before, but yeah if you have seen other glowworms like the other commenter said these are much more scattered and fewer

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great spot to view. Better go after 9p.m. Because there is a group of a hostel which starts around 8:30p.m. And it gets really crowded, loud and bright.
If it's new moon you will need a torchlight but be sure to cover it (for all the other people around you). If the moon is up and bright, you don't even need a torchlight, just give your eves a few minutes to get used to the dark and you'll be fine. It much more magical ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are glow worms! We went in the pouring rain, pitch black and had the best time. Take a small torch to see the path but keep it covered with fabric so it's not too bright. Then turn it off sometimes and just look at the glow worms in the dark, they're amazing! We went at 8pm in May

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went just after sunset and walked about 250m return and saw several hundred glow worms. Mostly at a height of 50cm to 180cm in the trees and ferns - so very close to see. Don’t need a torch but stay together (we had a small amount of moonlight)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have done the track in the dark and while it was raining: excellent conditions to see glow worms. Result: we saw a few of them, but spread out over the forest so it was not impressive at all. If you have never seen glow worms before, then maybe this can enjoy you. Otherwise, don't do it. Glow worm caves are much more fun.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Short, easy loop path with gravel through gorgeous rain forest. The track joins to another track that goes through the forest all the way to the glacier car park, so if you want to hike or cycle up to the glacier the track is much better than the busy road!
If you want to see the glow worms, go there at night, keep your flashlight pointed at the ground or turn it off altogether, and don't make too much noise. Dress warmly, as it is pretty cool even in summer.
We saw lots of them, and for me it was a magical experience!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Saw lots of glow worms, go at sunset, after rain. Bring a flashlight, but DO NOT use it, they are dim and a flashlight will mess up your night vision. Going before it's too dark makes it easy for your eyes to adjust properly.
We walked up the bike path and down the glow worm trail to the beginning. I think that worked out better because all the other groups went the other way so we passed them and didn't get stuck behind anyone.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good and short walking track in day time, but we were looking for glow worm, and went there at around 9:30pm in November, only a few places can find them, and each time we saw were only 2 to 3 of them on the trees. Good for the person who is the first time to see grow worm, but may be not for the person who has seen many before.
