Fuel Conversions & Automotive Repairs Ltd - Mount Eden
About Fuel Conversions & Automotive Repairs Ltd
Something else that sets us apart is our servicing. We strongly recommend that you have your car regularly serviced – every 10,000km is a good rule of thumb. It’s a good way to solve any potential problems or wear and tear before they become BIG problems. It also means your car will be running as well (and cost-efficiently) as it possibly can be. Some companies consider that a service means changing the oil and filter. But there’s a lot more that makes your car run than oil and an oil filter. That’s why our service is a lot more indepth. We check all the components that make your car run, so it continues to run, and run, and run.
After all, we know how important your car is to you. And how you want to feel safe when you get behind the wheel.

β β β β β These guys work on my 66 Cortina and are really professional after a couple of other garages just guessed at what to do. I live 50km from these guys but always bring my car in for work there.

β β β β β A few months ago I took my car to fuel conversions for some repairs and to be serviced, one of the repairs - my bumper being clipped back on properly required the purchase of a second hand part + clips to secure that part. Today the inside guard that was repaired came loose on the motorway, when I took it to the closest tyre shop the guy told me he couldnt fix it, but in fact it hadn't been done properly in the first place. I was booked in for a service next week so I contacted Fuel conversions and said i wished to cancel the service unless they were willing to review the workmanship on the bumper and put things right. I got a rude reply from the receptionist that basically said bring it in when you get your service and we can see what youll need to have it fixed. Wouldn't reccomend this business, or trust them to fix your car properly.

β β β β β If I could pick 0 STARS, I would.
I've had old classic, LPG dedicated vehicles for 29 odd years, always with an Impco setup, over the last 12 or so years I have had to have work done by fuel conversions, as they are the Impco reps for NZ, so have the IMPCO market cornered.
Over this time, Ross Golding (owner) has proven time and again, to be condescending, arrogant, unhelpful, and a would be bully.
My experience at Fuel conversions has been:
Being shouldered out of his way after querying an item on my bill.
Having derogatory, unnecessary anti Ford comments made to wife and I on very first visit.
Outbursts of anger and personal insults, in front of his staff and wife.
Attempted physical intimidation.
Paid for carburetor tuning, wasn't running right after driving home, then told over phone not to bring it back in, but to adjust it myself.
Drove a working vehicle in for minor LPG work, paid the bill, car returned with a burnt out electronic ignition...not an easy task to accomplish, and no ownership taken by them.
Having the LPG market cornered is good for business, but it doesn't give license to abuse, or justify unsolicited, obnoxious, behaviour toward paying customers.
It's nice to be important...but it's more important to be nice.

β β β β β While my classic car was in this workshop having body chassis bushes changed out my car door / front guard was damaged (possibly due to the door being opened while body was separated from chassis). This work was required to obtain a WOF (which they issued).
When I turned up to collect the car I noticed the damage and explained this to Ross. Ross explained to me that the car had damaged itself and refused to take responsibility.
When leaving his workshop the car drive shaft was making a horrific noise and was only able to drive at 30kmph and it was obvious that it was not in a roadworthy condition so should not have received a WOF.
Long story short Ross and his wife were dishonest to deal with so we ended up going to small claims court which we were awarded repair costs. This process consumed many hours not to mention the frustration.
If this company had of been sincere, honest and owned the damage this would be a 4 star review unfortunately this is not the case..
I wish I had read the other reviews before using this company as many of these poor reviews are very accurate when things do not go to plan for this business.

β β β β β Excellent service and friendly. I brought my Nissan Selphy from Whangarei for major repairs and left with confidence that a job well done had been made. Ross neatly explained the issues they faced and repaired. These people are confident and job wizards. Sue is a darling.
