About George's

George’s Moturoa was established in July 2018, and is owned and operated by local lad Landon Elder. Landon worked in catering and as a chef in Melbourne for many years before returning home to his birthplace, Taranaki, to follow his dream of opening an eatery.

The name George’s comes from Landon’s grandfather George Manu, who spent his whole life serving others, cooking at the marae, gathering kaimoana, or toiling in the garden to provide for his whanau. Landon has always been inspired by his grandfather and counts himself lucky to have been blessed with this same passion for cooking for others. He delivers this passion through his kai and service at George’s.

Whanau, and especially children, were very important to George. At George’s Moturoa, Landon encourages you to bring in your tamariki to play, make noise and eat real, unprocessed food, just like his grandfather had made for him. If you haven't already done so, bring the kids in for a feed and a play, or just to say hello.

All of the food at George’s Moturoa is made on site from real ingredients. Landon’s ultimate goal is to bring awesome coffee and real food to the real people of New Plymouth. No packets, no short cuts.

Great little cafe for lovers of kiwiana food. Staff are friendly, food served quick, best chicken nuggets around (real chicken) and milkshakes for the kids. The fried bread with steak , bacon, mushroom, egg, caramelized onions, can't be beat and the boil up hit the spot too.

Great catering options. Used for a family birthday, great food including pulled pork. Good grazing platter for nibbles before lunch too.

Awesome feed as usual. Maybe put pork belly and coleslaw on a plate and less peanuts ?

Took my daughters in this morning for some Bacon and Eggs on fry bread while I ordered the Steak and Mushrooms on fry bread. I have never seen my daughters ever finish what was on their plate and they said it was the most delicious thing ever. Miss 7 gave it 10 stars out of 5. Chef is a legend too. Always happy to have a chat with anyone and everyone and you can tell that they are passionate about food by how good it tastes. MUST BUY. Excellent
