★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My wife and I were due to stop for one night on 23rd March on our way South to Queenstown. However Jacinda had other ideas and we ended up staying 3 and a half weeks! Kim and her staff could not have been kinder! The views are breathtaking and we managed to explore the lovely walks by way of daily exercise! Our chalet was very comfortable and we came to regard Glenfern as our home in New Zealand! Sarah and I were touched by the kindness of all the New Zealand people and particularly Kim.If you are travelling down the West coast Rd I would thoroughly recommend you stop at Glen Gern Villas and enjoy the Glacier. Sadly we were unable to do so due to the lockdown but were able to enjoy them from a distance!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Little bit out of town but accommodation great. Very welcoming and helpful staff. If you eat in town try alice may restaurant. Also full of beans is great for coffee and a snack.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Friendly staff and beautiful villas. Each villa has a carport and a small backyard. Fully functional kitchen equipped in the villa. The bedrooms are large however there is only one full bathroom on the ground floor. We visited during winter so the house was nice and warm once we started the heater. The backyard also provides a nice view of the Alps.
On a dark night the backyard provides an excellent location for stargazing and view of the Milky way.
These villas are located just 5 mins away from the main street in Franz Josef.
We would certainly visit again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We got there tired after a 7.5 hr drive, looking forward to checking in to our nice large villa which we had booked months in advance for our honeymoon. We were told they had overbooked the room and that they had no room for us since we were the last to arrive (at 6pm). We were offered a refund of some sort, however in communication afterwards they have informed us that no refund would be offered. So i would say if you want to book here, have a backup plan in case they decide to give away your room, too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Modern, clean and comfortable accommodation with separate bedroom, perfect bathroom, kitchenette and big living room. Very helpful reception who can advise on area activities. Even a small animal park! All you want for a short or longer stay. About 10 minutes by car from Franz Josef, but restaurants will pick you up.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing place to chill after a few busy day’s in New Zealand. It’s so close to the main Franz Josef area. It has all the kitchen facilities you need...we cooked on both nights we were there! Lovely big lounge area do great views of the mountains. Everything was efficient and sufficient. We used the laundry facilities onsite - $4 for the washing machine and $1 / 10 minutes for the dryer, which I thought was reasonable. They even provided a packet of washing powder each day too. Have a wonderful selection of movies and games which you can take back to you room to enjoy in this lovely space.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect place to stay with salt of the earth hosts. Place was lovely and warm. Spacious for a family of four. Kids loved getting to know the pet sheep.
