★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent walk in from the Borland Road - approx 4hrs (with 2 young kids) but should normally take approx 3 hours.
Hut was in really good condition whilst i was there - be mindful of schools doing hikes in there as well - may cause a bed shortage in some months. Its a 12 bunk hut only .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Relaxing and wonderful cca 3h hike from Borland road. I don't recommend you to go after the rain since you have to cross many wetlands and one bad step will make your shoes completely wet ?
Hut is very cozy, with fireplace inside, 12 matraces. Matches available. Toilet was a bit dirty with no toilet paper but that's about to be expected. There is a container with rain water. Good for dishes cleaning. You can also find an axe to cut a wood.
Standard fee - 5nzd/person/night. Don't forget to buy your tickets ahead!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a cozy hut! Absolutely beautiful scenery. Walked from Borland Road, about 3 hours. Walking through the open was great but watch your footing, there’s quite a few little ditches hiding under the flax in sections.
