★ ★ ★ ★ ★ AMAZING. great place to stop and have a break. Has a neat loo. GREAT look out...so high up. Very pretty valley below. If you have a camping chair take it with. Great to take a seat and listen to nature for a few minutes

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lovely little stop off point on the way to Ngarua Caves. Good parking, a short walk through the trees on a purpose-built walkway, and then onto the viewing platform for a panoramic view over the surrounding hills, valleys and towards the coast. Great on a clear day!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hawkes Landing is a Public Conservation Area that provides an excellent rest stop for travellers over Takaka Hill. But that's not all, a 10 minute walk takes you to a wonderful lookout with a sweeping panorama view across the Riwaka Valley, Tasman Bays, the Marlborough Sounds and Richmond Ranges. The lookout is lovingly cared for by the Takaka Hill Biodiversity Group Trust made up of Community members who live on Takaka Hill. The group clear invasive weeds and restore areas of the lookout with the locally propagated limestone loving native species as part of their mountains to the sea biodiversity work.
