★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Horrible place. Absolutely NASTY long drop. Very little sun. Flood prone. Infested with mice and some MONSTER river rats. Bring gin traps and at least one spiked club - and that's just for the sandflies!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place to camp on a SC van. Loads of space and few cute Wekas to entertain you all evening. One longdrop toilet and a lot of mosquitoes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ For free camping in NZ, you really can't beat this. It's a 15 minute drive to the entry of Abel Tasman and has plenty of space for campers. The toilet situation isn't great, but again, it's free! Sand flies were not too bad either.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Free campground near Abel Tasman national park. A bit further away but nice spot nevertheless. Only a single drop toilet, so you may want to make sure your self-contained car's toilet has enough room on it for your stay. Nothing special around the campsite, so you'll want to drive to somewhere else on the morning.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great freedom spot by the river close to Marahau, so perfect for setting up before Abel Tasman adventures. The toilet isn’t too great (flies / smells) but that’s the charm of 1/10 some long drops!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely peaceful area with access down to stony river and someone has made little pools in it. Long drop toilet ok. Lovely shade from trees. Our first ever freedom camping spot hopefully not setting too high a benchmark for the rest. Perfect really
