★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very very beautiful, great view to the bay, and very natural and untouched scenes and tracks. We took the south and east track, wasn’t hiking too far. Waterfalls are good to see.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place to spend an hr walking down to the visitors centre and back while learning about native flora.
If you've got more time hiking any of the tracks down will require half or full day adventures. Beautiful native bush with awesome views only a short walk away!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We walked the tracks in August 2017 after a couple of weeks of rain and a snow. The day was warm and a northwester was blowing up high but most of the track was protected from the wind so we had an enjoyable afternoon. The tracks were "damp" under foot but not sloppy wet but we did wear tramping boots so had no issues.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing, a little known gem that is the product of a lot of top notch conservation work. A private nature reserve that is open to the public for a small donation. A look into the way Banks Peninsula bush would've once looked prior to widespread human habitation and farming. Fitness will likely be tested on the full loop, as you walk back from the beach to the top of valley. Keep the eyes open for bellbirds and other natives which have taken up residence! I was very happy that I brought my camera with me :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thoroughly enjoyed my visit at Hinewai. Had been planning to visit after watching the very inspiring documentary fools and dreamers, it was almost surreal to visit the place in person, and to spend a whole day here.
Meeting Hugh was another plus, he is such a lovely genuine guy.
I recommend for all, there are walks for everyone here.
