★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Intercity provides really bad service. It's overpriced and they have cut back the services since Covid, so now it barely goes anywhere and the frequency is rubbish. They also cram the buses as full as possible with people. The only thing they are interested in is squeezing money out of people.

I've spent thousands over the years on intercity bus service travelling NZ, and usually have 5 star customer's service but on my last trip I was appalled at the customer service of the bus driver. He rolled his eyes when I asked him to stop at a bus stop he was trying to cut out of his itinerary. Spoke very rude to me. As I asked questions and did not turn into my stop but stopped on the road where I had to step down on to the road and walk across to the footpath, usually the bus driver will come off the bus and help me down and collect my bag advising I have a great trip. This lazy driver watched me struggle to get off the bus being in my 70s and having had double hip operations makes it difficult and sped off quickly after I exited the bus. So disappointed considering the service I usually receive please update me on what has been done to rectify the situation, many thanks Faith.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Generally good first experience
This was the first time I was taking an Intercity bus in New Zealand.
The web-booking experience was easy. The Gold seats were only $5 more than the standard seats, which were $20 per adult for Hamilton to Auckland journey.
The pre-travel emails were useful.
The bus was parked about 20 minutes before the scheduled departure. The cleanliness of interior and exterior was excellent.
The departure was on time, the arrival at Auckland domestic airport was 10 minutes ahead of schedule!
The driver drove at a steady speed of 92-95 kmph - very smooth ride, no jerks, sharp turns or sudden braking.
The downside was :
1. One of our seats did not recline.
2. Both the charging points at our seat didn’t work at all.
Considering everything - a positive experience!
