β β β β β A great short walk thatβs very accessible from Pirongia. A 4WD road turns into a well graded trail through native bush leading to a small narrow cave. You definitely need a torch and a head torch if possible to keep hands free. Leave backpacks at the entrance as you can get them later. A small stream runs through the cave so as Kerlmit Nasserschuhen says, you will get wet shoes!

β β β β β Good walk through the forest. The cave is doable. Very short walk through the cave. The first 30 minutes of the walk is boring and uninspiring. Nothing much to see for 30 minutes but the forest is ok. The walk is along the stream.

β β β β β A beautiful walk through native bush and streams to reach the Kaniwhaniwha caves. Definitely need a head torch for this experience. A lovely swimming spot also...a must do!
