β β β β β Good DOC campground with very clean toilets. The tracks begin here into the Teetotal area but also towards town.

β β β β β My favourite Lake very easy to get to Lake Rotoiti. With ample parking and space to pitch your tents. This is a haven for boaters. There are boat ramps to load and off load your boats. Sadly, there isn't much shelter. You can jump off the jetty. Water is not that deep so be careful. Toilet facilities are clean and easily assessable. During winter and summer, the view of the mountains varies. During winter there is snow of the mountains. You can see My Roberts from here. Perhaps this view will give you some motivation to climb Mt Roberts. You can also walk around the lake which is like 29km. However, Lake Rotoiti is beautiful. You can bring your own kayaks. Bring bread to feed the eels and ducks.

β β β β β Sweet spot to camp for the novice camper like me. Had everything I needed and the facilities were super clean.
Sandflies are no joke. Bring insect repellent and apply often.
Try to get in early as the majority of unpowered sites don't really have any shade. In the nelson summer the heat can get a bit hectic. We camped out in a the Kaka site but Kiwi sites were similarly situated.
As other mentioned before heading down to camp check-in at the doc visitor center and grab some tokens for the hot showers.
Petrol station is up the road as well as a few shops.
The cafe opposite the petrol station has wifi.

β β β β β Kerr Bay DoC camping ground is always a lovely spot to be. Wake up to the sound of bellbirds, enjoy your morning cup of coffee on the jetty. Enjoy a nippy dip in Lake Rotoiti, walk the numerous trails for all fitness levels, and chat with fellow campers. The camping ground was full, so it pays to book.

β β β β β Absolutely loved this camp. We spent 6 nights here . Nature at it's best. Even sandflies not as bad as expected. Very happily go back again. Facilities pretty new and lovely bush walks and just sitting looking at lake very tranquil. Amazing eels under 1st jetty.
Back again for another stopover and even though colder still excellent place to stay.

β β β β β When we stayed at teetotal campground we went down to Kerr Bay Campground to use the pay showers and we were very impressed. Very clean, good amount of hooks. 1 token will get you 6 mins of hot water. Tokens can be purchased from the camp host on site or the local doc office up the hill. $3 per token. If we didn't have our dog with us we would at Kerr Bay. See photos.

β β β β β Kerr bay had surprisingly good facilities considering it is a DOC camp ground. The visitor centre staff and camp host are very helpful. The grounds come equiped with a full dumping station and hot showers for $1 per six minutes. The views of the lake are also spectacular and the water temperature is great! The only reason this isnβt a five star is because of the sandfies although the grounds staff canβt help that. Overall definitely a place to stay!

β β β β β The views here are spectacular and the options for walking are many. The campground itself is very nice and offers some really nice spots to park. The option of a hot shower really makes this a good stop.
However be warned that the sand flies are truly brutal and can be quite numerous! The great views make up for them though.
