★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited my grandson this afternoon, actually the nurse in the ward has given me a permit as caregiver, hence my daughter is living with us bec she is a single mom.but the one in the reception named Rose stop me in doing so.she talk to me rudely disrespectful to old woman ,she treated us like beggar. That we will just create trouble in the ward .Actually two of us get in together also a grand ma in other room 20 inside the ward and seems she is like the owner of the hospital as she talk to us without respect

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Waiting times are just unacceptable at all. Be prepared to spend there at least 4 hours before you see the doctor. NZ medical services are horrible in terms of timing and outcome. Better to stay home and use Google advice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First time here and as friendly as staff try to be, service is slack. Kidz First is more like Kidz on Hold while we giggle, chat and make excuses instead of doing our jobs ! The wait time is beyond ridiculous with the amount of staff that stand around and gas bag then roll eyes on who should tend to patient standing right in front of them at reception you'd think there were no patients in the waiting room at all. The A&E is equally bad. I never write reviews and if someone up the ladder were doing their job properly half the people walking the hospital halls would be out of jobs ! The good ol there will be a 4hr wait EXCUSE ! It's terrible when former employees spill the real truth behind that awesome excuse to get people out the door. If you're not where you want to be GET A NEW JOB !!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Always have to wait for hours just to get told to go home and give pamol , it feels as if nurses and doctors think your child is not that sick , sadly sometime I have no choice but to come here otherwise I always drive 20min from where I stay to starship they are the best(seriuoly) . I feel as if staff here don't enjoy what they do and don't know what they are doing or too lazy to do all the check up necessary to check for virus and bacteria they just check temperature, heart, throat and ears ?. I feel bad for writing this but I have had enough with their poor service. My son had 2 seizures from fevers we got rush to hospital and they send us home with pamol we ended up coming back in the ambulance cause he had another 3 episodes of seizures and they decide to do blood test etc which they should've done the first time we came in . In the past when my son has seizures from fever they always just send us home with pamol and they don't know what is causing the fever and seizure.?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Be prepared to wait for hours on end until a dr comes to see you. But don’t worry, you get to wait in a rundown, dirty hospital with disinterested doctors who are all ‘cookie-cutter’ clones of each other. Same questions, same tests, same perpetual bewilderment and same conclusion.
“We have this amazing panacea called paracetamol. Have you got some at home? No? Don’t worry I’ll give you some of this amazing cure-all to take with you. Oh, and by the way, if it reoccurs feel free to bring your kid back and we’ll look at them again. You’ll have to wait for at least 4 to 5 hours again, but we might give you our second cure all- it’s called ibuprofen. Hey kid in room 1- here’s some paracetamol. Hey kid in room 2- here’s some paracetamol, rooms 3 to 22 here’s some paracetamol. Now I’m off to see how quickly I can discharge you all because I don’t actually know what I’m doing so I’ll give you paracetamol. Sorry your kid has to live in pain and keep coming back by ambulance, but eventually the paracetamol will work, I promise- but if you have to come back you’ll get a different doctor who’ll ask all the same questions as I did. Don’t worry though, they have as much paracetamol as you’ll ever need.”

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was there on last Friday midnight with my 5 year old daughter due to sudden allergic reactions she had. Had to wait an hour for a Nurse to check her, the 3 more hours for a Doctor. Both of them were really friendly, polite and did their job to the best they could I believe. But the waiting times are ridiculous and the people in red uniforms(maybe attendants) were not that friendly or care much about the patients. They didn't care about the pain our daughter was in or our emotional state at that time. What was important to them was their chit chat. Some serious management issues are there for higher authorities to address here. The amounts of tax we're paying for the government and the services we're receiving are not acceptable at all.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The staff here are all very friendly, and do what they can to make you stay as comfortable as they can. A shout out to the wonderful play specialist team too, they make staying in hospital a memorable experience for the kids, and give them something positive to remember from their hospital stay.
