★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well worth the drive up. Or walk, if that's your thing. Amazing outlook. Small parking area with roundabout for returning. No facilities up here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There is about 2kms of gravel road before you get to the summit parking area which is quite big, has awesome views looking over Whakatane township, beach and out to sea where you can see Whakaari/white Island.
If you go down to bottom of grass area the Kohi trail walkway starts and you can get spectacular views but is abit of a walk to the Kohi lookout platform as there's sets of stairs in places as well as up and down hill areas

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s just a short travel from Whakatane & off SH2 where you drive a short section of gravel road uphill. There’s a large car park with a roundabout at the centre. From there you are able to oversee Whakatane & the sea.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Regular start point for an easy to medium intensity hike that can be done as a 5-6 hour circuit through three reserves or a simple there and back trek to the point itself. Pretty well maintained track with good signage and historical insight about the Pā site along the way. The path is lush with some of the most impressive stands of native coastal forest in the country with glimpses down the hill to Whakatāne township, with Putauaki and even Mt Tarawera on the horizon. The point itself offers vistas out to the East Cape, Whakaari/White Island and Moutohorā/Whale Island.
