★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A well hidden spot of nature. As one rushes over the Tairua River there is little to highlight the gem that sits beneath. Take the subtle turnoff, drive down the track to the edge of the river (parking is very limited) and take a walk along the rocky river bed to the swimming hole. The locals know of its existence, and enjoy the peace and quiet. The rest of us stumble upon it and promise to return.
