★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are several view point stops along State Highway 6 which runs north-south along the west side of Lake Hawea. The main Lookout viewpoint has a proper pull over and space for a fair number of vehicles to stop.
Here you and view the lake to the east. There are impressive peaks north of the lake which are rather close, making for really nice photos. Peaks on the east side of the lake are future away but are still nice on clear days.
Give this stop a few minutes to enjoy the views prior to making your way along the highway.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a great little spot to stop on your way towards Fox Glacier. There is a picnic table where you can stop and have some lunch. The views are fabulous and on a good day the photography opportunities are magnificent. I do think the trees need to be trimmed a little bit as they are spoiling some of the view. If you move yourself right to the edge you can get some great photo opportunities. Well worth a stop.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is possibly the most beautiful lake view I’ve seen. It’s one of the few hidden gems within New Zealand. The mountains & layout of the lake reminds me of the ones in the Canadian Rockies & fiords in Greenland.
