★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Easy walk. Friendly routouwai, can’t believe they were willing to fly nearby, and even they will follow you. Make my day highlights.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great walk around the lake. Mostly buggy friendly. Though I wouldn't take a buggy all the way around again. Peaceful and beautiful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Open 24hrs, experience a bird sanctuary thats free of charge. This lake is fenced off from the rest of the local farmlands in the area to keep predators away. Apparently you can see kiwi here if your lucky ? we're going to have to come back here at night and do the walk again to see for ourselves. There is freedom camping area with toilets, but I'm not sure about showers? Please donate kindly before leaving, it is definitely worthwhile if your in the area or passing through.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you love beauty and the sounds of birdsong ...this is the place to be..walk around lake only just over 4 ks and not difficult but if you enjoy a challenge try ridge walk...following predator proof fence ..high above lake..warning there are lots of steps!...spectacular views..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stunning walk around the lake, amazing bird sounds, we saw a load of Tieke (saddleback), curious little Robin's, and various other birds.
We did the 4km walk and it was super easy and enjoyable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a beautiful place to come to camp. Plus the walks are so beautiful and easy to walk around. The animal life is abundant because of the rodent fencing to keep the rodents out. Great for wheelchairs ♿. Bring lots of fresh water ? as the is not drink able. Also it's a freedom camping site for no more than 3 days
