Beautiful sanctuary! Well established 4k trail around the lake, with side trails to the lake including a pontoon for bird viewing. (Max 30 people) with options for a more strenuous Ridgeline hike. A hidden gem tucked away from the normal camping places as it has limited space for freedom camping. Clean toilets taken care of by volunteers, so please donate to contribute to the kiwi bird cause. $5/day per head recommended. Great informational boards and plaques along the trail. When we left, a tree had felled from the storm and (what I assume) were volunteers were clearing the road. A worthy cause to be a part of. Will definitely be back and spread the word ?

How much closer could you possibly get to our Natives? This area is well worth a visit....Yeah, the road was a bit narrow in places, but all good things don't come easy. The tracks were wet after the rain but still walkable. If i had any criticism at all it would be no phamplets at the information centre, and my only suggestion to the trust would be a few "You are here" boards around the lake walk.

This is a spectacular park which has been looked after well. Wonderful array of native plants and birds. People have done an excellent job here of restoring native bush.

Best outdoor native bush experience. The lake trail can be done by children and the amazing bird life is a must. Saddelbacks laughing and sweet Robins at your feet looking fur grubs. Enjoy, but don't bring your dog!

A wetland reserve enclosed by a predator proof fence. It's gorgeous and the night time walk to see the kiwis is well worth it. Remember to bring a red light torch as they can't see it.

What a beautiful place. We stayed overnight (freedom camping) and it was lovely hearing all the birds sing. What a dawn chorus!! We did the lake track in a bit over an hour, which was muddy in places. Best if you wear sturdy footwear. Clean tidy facilities. Nice quiet surroundings.

What a lovely place to come and stay. It's a freedom camping site, you can stay no more than 3 days. Plus awesome bush walks and great camping sites and campa vans and mobile homes. Go try for yourselves.

Great spot. Hidden away from the main roads and surrounded by rolling farmlands. The native bush is amazing. The bird life is very raucous and varied. Much love and dedication has gone into this place and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves nature.
