★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really enjoyed this walk and may the person who wrote take the clockwise path up through the forest first, may you live long and prosper ?, on a hot day I found it so much easier to struggle up through the forest first as you get to the cafe /observatory /best views the quickest.
Then it's a fairly easy walk mainly down hill, I met several people who were struggling going the opposite way
Fantastic views, there's only so many times you can see "wow"

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fairly easy walk from Tekapo Springs along the lake's edge then up the less steep side. From the amount of people I passed, it seems most ascend from the steeper side up Mt John. There is a decent track all the way, did not encounter any muddy places. Spectacular views all the way up, less so on the way down as it is a forest track.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Spectacular views, particularly if you take the longer way up which loops around the East of Mt. John (takes 2 hours, eventually coming up the North side), vs. the 1 hour option up the South side. The longer route is very exposed so cover up!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great hiking tour to the top of Mount Johns. If you do the loop clockwise you get a steady climb through the forest in the beginning with a great view from the mountaintop over the surrounding area. After that the path declines north from where you have a great view over the lake and the mountains behind that. From there the trail turns back towards the parking lot and follows the shoreline.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful view when the weather is nice. Take warm clothes as it is usually very windy up the hill. It's also quite steep so you should have an average stamina. I would highly recommend the walk.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An absolutely beautiful walkway. Easy to access and the views are just priceless. Suitable walking for beginners / casual walkers. Get to this on a nice day you wont't be disappointed.
