★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice walk. Not too much mud on 20.1.2022. 30 mins loop. Trail a bit faint in places.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A nice short walk, beautiful trees and fantails. The track is indistinct in places, but does have orange markers to aim for. Not too muddy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hidden gem forest walk. Very tall trees Kahikatea/Matai/Rimu/Totara in a sort of gully so not so noticeable from the entrance. Impressive birdsong while we were there, lots of tui. Track is a bit indistinct in places but orange triangles mark the way.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ FOLLOW THE ORANGE ARROWS!!! This track is not looked after. We had a great day adventuring, but were confused at times on which way to go. At one point, we were certain a river crossing was necessary, but the water was deep and fast so we turned back and went down the road back to our car. Be prepared for mud and water. At one point, a rope is necessary to climb up and down a muddy hill. Wear proper shoes and pay attention to the orange arrows so you don't get lost in the woods. Have fun and be safe!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Looked quite pretty, but only saw it from the car, as when we pulled in, there was a sign that said 'No dogs'!! Nothing mentioned in the Tararua District pamphlet (again!!) or sites we checked before heading out that way, with kids and dog!!
Also, the entrance sign to the reserve is small, so could easily be missed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quite an adventure walk. 9 year old son and 70ish dad liked it. Quite steep at start and end. Dry day walk recommended as would be hard work if slippery.
