Fairly low key and still very much under development, it is an interesting place to take the kids. Especially if you want to see some massive eels. It's free to look around. Off the main drag, in the little village of Norsewood, not a bad place for a break in your road trip.

Situated next door to NZ Natural Clothing store this is an ongoing conservation project which relies on donations and volunteers. You may hand feed the eels with food from NZ Natural clothing store ,but no bread please.and they can bite. Long fun eels can live up to 100 years. A small walkway which is still being constructed meanders through wetland habitat. There is a site for campervans to park.

We took a the dogs for a walk around there. Was only a short walk but the two pooches enjoyed it. We then went to Anzac part for a picnic lunch. The gods loved running around the huge grass area. There is a couple of picnic tables to sit at. We spent a lovely after noon there. Unfortunately tye toilets were out of action.

Someone turned up with meat to feed the eels while we were there so perfect time to see them even swimming up over the rapids and rocks to get a meal. Needs some weeding done to keep it tidier.
