β β β β β If I could give the Manukau Animal Shelter no stars I would, this organisation is unfit to receive the one star I have to give. This place by no means deserves to call themselves a shelter, this would insinuate it offers protection and care for the animals that end up there, which this place does anything but, you are not running a shelter, you are running an abattoir.
For those reading this review, this shelter has euthanised a dog (among many others) based on itβs breed alone. The owner along with the NZ Police and reputable foster organisation Saving Hope attempted to work with the shelter to release this dog into foster care, for a better future but this wasnβt enough apparently.
Shelters like this have no place in society, and should not be playing judge, jury and executioner with innocent animals lives.

β β β β β I wish there was a ZERO in rating. My dad and I registered our dog under my name, yesterday our dog was coming home as she sneaks out by digging around fence at home. She was in our driveway and the impound still took her. They also told my husband that it was under my dads name and her registration expired but that was false information. We registered and paid for her last year and it hasnβt even been a year for her registeration to be expired.
Theyβre ripping families off. I would never recommend this place. Complete liars and ripoffs.

β β β β β Shame on you after what Iβve read on the recently euthanised case. No empathy whatsoever, snuffing out innocent lives that matter just like rubbish. There were many wanting to give him a chance at life yet your stone heart didnβt budge. Will never use your services nor recommend anyone else to as you do not value life.

β β β β β This particular pound kills dogs due to their breed without any DNA results to back said classification. Pitbull 'types' are euthanized if owners do not come forward REGARDLESS of their nature. There is currently a dog the Police dropped off today with a beautiful nature that showered the police officer with kisses. Police found out dog was going to be euthanized and tried to get him out but council refused!!!! This dog has apparently been stolen and owner is frantically driving up to get him as I type this.
This council and those who work within it are DISGUSTING!

We are taught discrimination based on looks is wrong.
Nice example to follow Manukau Council!!!!

β β β β β Imaging putting down a dog while the owner is there trying to get their dog back. Youβre an absolute disgrace if you support this place and you think what they do is okay. Heartless and cruel staff. Pit Bulls or any breed similar do not stand a chance in this place even if their temperament is beautiful. This HAS to change.

β β β β β Will never recommend anyone to this place and will be sure to let others know what happened to the poor dog that was euthanised here just because of his breed despite the fact that there were many people willing to adopt him and pay for his fees. Disgusting, cruel and heartless place that calls themselves an animal shelter. Zero stars for you ??

β β β β β This place doesn't even deserve a one star, it deserves a ZERO. I thought an animal shelter was to help - this place does the exact opposite. Innocent LOVING animals being euthanized for NO REASON. DO NOT BRING ANY ANIMALS HERE.

β β β β β So friendly, great understanding staff. Made my first pick up of my pup really easy & knocked back the fee. Considering my pup got lead astray by the neighbors dog, too while we were having a tangi at home. Bless them xx
