★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been going there for around 50 years now and it is still well worth the visit. Our grandchildren really enjoyed learning our old defense systems and seeing the big guns closeup.

A MUST visit with absolutely stunning views. Some of the tunnels and caves are closed and/or under reconstruction but the views are simply stunning. Apart from the views you can find historical military artifacts dating back to WWI & WWII as well as a super cosy beach. This is probably one of the most serene places in Auckland. Check out the picd

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If your visiting mount Victoria i would highly recommend checking out North Head as well. This mountain you can actually drive up to the half walk point so its a bit easier if you don't feel like walking. There is even more defensive equipment on sight here, including the ammunition stores, retractable guns and not to forget stunning views! It does get busy here on the weekends so parking does fill up.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice walkway with magnificent views across Auckland harbour in all directions. Interesting historical site with gun enplacements and bunkers that you can walk through. Very well set up with information boards explaining the history.
