★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mesita is a great little wine bar, a bit of an insider's and locals secret hideaway. They've got a seriously great wine list, including some wines unavailable elsewhere (check out the devotes wines next time you're in). A recent welcome addition is the partnership with Abandoned Breweries which means you can get their excellent lager on tap.
In addition to musical guests and great drinks, the staff is fantastic, super professional but in a relaxed informal environment which is very inclusive every one is made to feel welcome.
Hayden runs the kitchen and is equally at home making Mexican classics as he is at flipping burgers or turning out amazing curries on Curry Mondays.
They also frequently have live music and djs playing throughout the year.
If you haven't been to Mesita, make sure you add it to your list next time you are in Martinborough.

My American friends who grew up on Mexican food say the tacos were the best they have had in nz. Everything - the food, the drinks was amazing. service was great, everything came out fast. We'll be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ SMALL BUT PERFECTLY FORMED - Recommended by a local, this wine bar is tucked up around the corner from the main road. We arrived at 7pm and had our pick of seats. Inside is very small with seating more suited to couples but outside has long tables suitable for sharing and larger groups. The wine list was fantastic with local beer, cider and cocktails available. The menu is small and we did three rounds which included two servings of the delicious fried chicken.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A cute little spot, they have a different themed simple menu each night they're open, we went to Wednesday which was taco day. There was 4 tacos, fried chicken and corn chips to choose from, simple short and really good. Decent wine selection for such a small place. Lovely staff. Delicious food. A great time.

The food is so good! Got the fried chicken, could easily eat this every day, the tacos were fresh and packed with flavour and chips and salsa were also excellent.
Will definitely be back next time we're in Martinborough!
