Food was amazing. Waitress was nice and attentive. The hostess (assume the owner) was cold and felt like she just wanted us to pay and leave, not sure if we upset her somehow. The cheese balls were delicious but very expensive for what you get. Overall very good but a little expensive.

Staff were great as too the service. I’m glad I ate before I came as the main meal size was really tiny. I had the pork belly which was quite ok taste-wise, but was a starter size not a main. My wife had the vegetarian option which was more generous portion-wise. Not a fan of the tip question prior to paying either. Don’t think I’ll be back

Cheesy Eggs for her and the Smoked Fish Hash for me were the orders of the day - chuck in some extra toast, a couple of flat whites and call it breakfast. The place was busy but we'd come at the brunching hour so no surprises. Our server was Sara ... she had quite a big section to get through but she was quick and friendly. We ordered coffee, chose fiod and enjoyed the noise. There were a few kids and babies and large groups of diners. A testament to the quality of their food and service. Our meals arrived and I immediately had food envy and wished I'd ordered cheesy eggs too. My hash was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside with the perfect balance of smoked fish to potato - poached eggs and brown butter hollandaise it was delicious! The cheesy eggs were ... cheesy, gooey and everything I knew it was going to be. Thick pieces of sourdough toast to mop up the sauce and it all smelt divine. The experience wasn't without issue. My wife found herself chewing on a fairly decent sized piece of cling wrap probably used to hold the egg as it cooked. You only have to look around to see that the probability of this happening is rarer then hens teeth. Everything we saw coming out of the kitchen was consistently beautiful. Everyone around us had beautifully plated food. So the 5 stars isn't for the food which is definitely a Napier 'must go' you won't regret it and like us, you'll drop by everytime you're in town. It is for the service. Sara and Deepak - you were both amazing and we appreciated the care and professionalism you showed. Thank you

Wonderful food. A risotto can be a risk, but the duck risotto was magnificent. The fish was also outstanding, almonds vine leaves, just divine. The deserts superb. Is there anything Mister D doesn't do well? Don't miss it! Updated May 2022. Had the cheese balls, double baked soufflé and smoked fish cake. All superb, as expected.

Amazing food and amazing service! The steak was cooked to perfection - crispy tender and juicy - probably the best I've ever had!

Excellent food, service and atmosphere for dinner, had the roast eggplant dish - best vegetarian meal I've had in years. Dessert was just as impressive. ?

The complimentary bread was good, and nice environment. We Ordered the fish of the day and pork belly, the fish of the day featured a weird combination of flavors (grapes and pickled radish) it just felt mismatched. The pork belly was not as good as expected.

Mister D is a MUST VISIT when in Napier. It’s cool, funky and has a great vibe. The service is good, even while they were under the pump on a very busy weekend. The food; went for breakfast, and it was great. A quick watch out is that they don’t do scrambled eggs. Good Ciabatta toast, fried eggs were cooked perfectly, bacon was delicious, great coffee. The donuts - they are amazing, dusted with sugar and cinnamon they are hot and delicious. Tried with and without a ‘shot’ of home made flavouring to be injected into the donut. Both were amazing.
