Was most surprised to get generous accommodation, nice kitchenette with milk and coffee supplied, AND free use of lovely natural hot springs. This was off season, and I expect the place is dearer in summer, but still lots to recommend. One problem. They don't serve meals and it's a few kms to the nearest shops.

Tidy and clean 10/10 sheets, towels, bedroom and bathroom facilities were clean and fresh. Aesthetics 7/10 can do with a lick of paint and some updates but would loose its character if it became to modernised. Food/drinks 9/10 catered to my dietary requirements of no dairy and no meat when everyone else could eat everything. Pool facilities 9/10 natural hot springs with chlorine added to stop the water turning green. Needs a lick of paint but i understand something in the water dissolves the paint. Some times the temperature is extremely hot but other times the temperature is just right. They try to regulate with a cold water hose but it is a natural spring and mother nature just takes it's course. Close to other excursions 10/10 Plenty things to do if you have an hour of three to spare. Enjoyed a brisk walk to lake pounamu (rotopounamu). I understand the hotel was uninhabitable prior to the new lessees taking it on. They have done massive work to get the place up to the current standard. Recommendations I would definitely stay there again and would happily recommend family and friends to stay.
M	Michael Wang on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Super friendly staff with huge room size and comfy beds. The thermal pool is amazing (if a little dirty but we think the naturally heated pool is a disinfectant). The location is convenient to Mt Ruapehu for skiing or hiking (about 1hr out). The price was great value for what you get. There is also a ski shop literally next door, super convenient. Turangi is nearby so you have access to supermarket and restaurants (new word closes at 9pm). Only minor point is the pools and bed sheets could be cleaner. We found stains in our bed sheets.
m	mary shaw on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Although this place has recently reopened after 8 years we loved our stay. THE HEATED POOL AND SURROUNDS ARE FANTASTIC! The very dated decor and rooms are actually ok. Dont let the Clashing colors and dust from sanding in reception put you off. At $120 a night for the huge room with ensuite...heated pool...and private geothermal spa it's so worth it... we'll be back with our families for a weekend getaway!
H	Harris Mataafa on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed here on my way to Wellington from Hamilton the week before Christmas 2017. The staff, Nigel and Herani were very gracious and hospitable. The rooms were cozy, clean, and comfy and the facilities were tidy. My 3 kids were able to run about freely and safely. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay with beautiful surroundings. Will definitely be back.

The hotel is in the process of being renovated.. but the thermal pool, comfy bed, and beautiful whanau that runs this establishment will ensure your stay is restful.
