β β β β β Unreal dining experience. The chef's are super creative turning out dishes you can't possibly imagine would be good but they are amazing! Super humble, relaxed environment as well and the front of house know their chops too, making the whole experience a must when in Wanaka. Will be back for sure. Thanks Muttonbird!

Loved George's trust the chef choice, each course was a taste sensation.
The open kitchen is a great idea..fun to see the food being prepared.
Awesome location, I 100% recommend this wee treasure ,you won't be disappointed and I will definitely be spreading the word.

β β β β β Stunning. Innovative food, attentive staff. Not just one of the best restaurants in Wanaka, Muttonbird would stand out in any city.
You come here to dine, not gaze out at the view. The "trust the chef" menu was amazing. The wine list is small but quality. We were impressed with our wine waiter who knew his stuff.
We'll be back.

β β β β β Muttonbird restaurant is such a fantastic addition to Wanaka. Five of us had the Chefs mix up it was superb and rates as the best meal I have had for a long time. Each dish is beautifully presented; the flavours were well balanced and delicious, most left you wanting more. The wine list is not extensive but well chosen. The team who look after you were lovely making you feel welcome as soon as you arrived, they were professional and knowledgable of the menu and drinks. Muttonbird is a must visit when you are in Wanaka.

β β β β β Dinner at @muttonbirdwanaka was a fantastic meal for our anniversary! Highly recommended and we will be back. The King Fish starter was incredible and the rest of the meal was frikkin delicious even if I did order to much. You have to try a Blooming Onion when youβre in town.

β β β β β Incredible experience at Muttonbird. Amazing ingredients which are in season with each dish full of flavour and textures. Thereβs a touch of different cuisines in a number of dishes which makes it such a great experience. Would definitely return again!

Great staff and incredible food made by talented chefs.
We got the 9 course Chefs choice mix up and got to sample some sensational flavors. I cant speak highly enough of our night, just brilliant.
If in Wanaka this is a must.

β β β β β Looking at all the great 5 star reviews on Google, we just had to try when we came to Wanaka.
We were here for dinner just last week on 20th May and ordered the mutton bird mix which is $68 per person.
Essentially, this is similar to Japanese Omakase where the chef chooses what you eat for the day. Mostly, these turn out great and this was no exception.
The mix turned out to be 8 dishes.
The mutton bird sourdough with fennel butter is a great starter. Warm and oh so fragrant with the fennel butter.
Chicken liver parfait was such a surprise! Smooth, refreshing and the crispy crouton completed the dish.
Chickpea tofu with tomato sace is soo good! I would order this again. It tastes like Singapore Chili crab sauce on a well fried tofu. Awesome!
The blooming onion is nice and crispy.
Tuna carpaccio is delicious! Very refreshing and the fish was sweet.
Market fish crudo with green Chili is this bomb! I loved this dish and love how the Chili sauce with mint just makes this so palatable.
Jerusalem artichokes could be a full dish on its own. Filling, fragrant and love what I believe is goat cheese that makes the base.
Market fish with sides of potatoes and salad as a main.
The fish is marinated with turmeric and curry leaf and tastes great. We did find it a tad salty but otherwise, awesome.
Branch creek honey semifreddo was the dessert and such a good way to end the dinner.
Needless to say, we were completely stuffed by the end of the meal but wished we could have a bigger stomach to eat more. That, imho, is testament to the success of the restaurant.
Highly recommended.
