β β β β β There are a lot of Malaysian restaurants opening up but this one is slightly different, it focuses on Nasi Kandar, rice and curries. The place is quite small so booking is a must if you were wanting to get a table. Otherwise, aim for later in the day and try your luck.
We grabbed a few different curries to share as well as some of their coconut and turmeric rice. The turmeric rice was nice but thought that the coconut rice lacked the flavour and smell of coconut. I was expecting the coconut sticky rice level of coconut.
The satay was amazing. Nicely grilled with the tasty charred bits as well as a really delicious satay sauce. Most of the other items we tried were nice but the rendang just took the cake. It had a really delicious flavour and was just enjoyable to eat. We got the chicken one and it looked like the rendang was fried with the chicken before more of the sauce was added on top. It came out as a mountain of chicken so there was plenty to go around. It looked quite fibrous but when you ate it everything melted into the sauce. The goat curry was also fairly memorable, being so tender and juicy.
I tried the milo godzilla. It was made well but disappointed that it wasn't covered under a mountain of milo. Be aware that it might get really hot inside. We were seated close to the counter and it almost got unbearably hot. Another thing to note was that it did take a while to get our meals, about a forty-minute wait, 20 for the entree and another 20 for the main meals. The place was full and they did apologize afterwards for the wait. Waiting in the heat wasn't fun so it was fortunate I had my godzilla.
Overall it was a really delicious experience, particularly the rendang and the satay, which is worth the visit just for those.

β β β β β Nasi Kandar by chef Jo wow wow wow wow!
The easiest way for me to describe this restaurant is like you are going to your friendsβ (who their parents are the best cook) cook. Homecook to its best. The warm of the service and the food is delicious! The spices and herbs use to cook every dish is amazing, definitely not something that I would have patient nor skills to cook.
My favourite is the nasi kandar with extra rendang. Oh and spring roll is nice too.
The drinks menu was also quite impressive with extended selection reminds me of Malaysian restaurant back in my home (I am from Indonesia) where we would order teh tarik, yum!
I will definitely be back to try the rest in the menu β€οΈ

β β β β β Must visit if you are a lover of Malaysian cuisine, and I must say i am usually quite critical. You will not be disappointed.
Joe and crew are fantastic hosts. Photo was taken at a quiet time. It's usually quite packed, so make a reservation if you don't want to be turned away.
Will definitely be back.

β β β β β It's not often that your first, second and third choices have run out due to popularity but you're still absolutely impressed with what you get.
We had the nasi kandar, as well as the assam fish, dry curried prawns and salmon masak lemak and they were amazing!
Would definitely drive back here the next time I'm visiting from Melbourne ?

β β β β β First time here, know nothing about Malaysian cuisine. Beef randang and goat curry very tender, certainly lots of spice profiles going on. Very filling, the front of house (wife?), Absolute star, friendly with recommendations, and a great smile. Other hospo businesses could learn from her, never got worked up as restaurant filled up. Best to ring ahead and reserve a table, as obviously has many fans. Chili shark? Maybe next time :-)

β β β β β Came here for lunch over the long weekend. Tried the coffee and tea combo with condensed milk which was so yummy. The chicken satay was good especially the sauce with it. The fish curry and the beef rendang were so yummy. Definitely get the coconut rice and anchovy sambal. I also got the fried fish which was nice but I wanted it more spicy. If you havenβt been here do so the couple that runs it are so passionate about the food and really value every person that walks through the door
