About Ngatitoa Domain Camping
Spinnaker Lookout Walkway
A favourite with the locals. Within minutes of entering the walkway you will find yourself in the middle of a forest, under a canopy of massive trees that drain out all the noise from the area, with only birds chirping up. Several access points (easiest one to find is on Spinnaker Drive itself) and clear signposts.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place to stop after the crossing coming from the South Island. We never used the toilets here, but I guess if you have your own toilet paper it should be alright. Everything is nearby for shopping or breakfast. Wind is useful to rock you to sleep ;) We always found room for an 8m motorhome so far. In summer it fills up very quick. Not for tents, only self contained vehicles!

Lovely playground for the kids.
Plenty of parking.
Public toilets are generally clean.
Dog park next to the sports fields

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great spot with lots of space. Calm environment with great spots for overlooking the boats coming and going in and out of the bay. Fishermen are fishing from the shore during evenings, very relaxing. Toilets are not so great, people could behave better in there...
Toilets are open all day and night.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is great, if you’re going down south and want to have a stop just before Wellington. Heaps of parking and toilet facilities. The toilets are not very clean and the cabin cannot be locked (only one for male).
But the view makes it all up. Park right next to the river mouth to enjoy a great scenery.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great freedom camping spot! We arrived late and parked on the foreshore side of the road which we found out in the morning was naughty, oops! But we weren't there for long and will remember next time. Gorgeous place to wake up in the morning and do some boat spotting, rowers, kayakers and all sorts use this waterway. Toilets are quite dated and the TP is half-ply box single sheet type stuff so take your own if using the toilets. But the fact there are toilets is great!
