★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Te Auaunga / Oakley creek area is one of the largest and most developed ecosystems in the urban Auckland area.
There are developed walking and shared bike/walking paths throughout.
The western side of Great North Rd includes the skatepark, playground, pump track, and a pathway along the waterfront through Howlett Reserve.
The eastern side of Great North Rd includes numerous walking paths, community gardens, it neighbors onto the unitec campus grounds.
There is a water hole at the Oakley creek waterfall site which is a popular diving site (at your own risk - caution advised).
The local community collaborate on a range of ecology projects and the area is well kept.
There are historic volcanic rock walls which is a nod to the geological history of the area.
You could spend days exploring this area and still find new things to see and new personalities of the area.
