★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of my favorite reserves in central Auckland for a short bush walk. It's not a loop and have to come back the same way you walk, adding to 4 kms return. Entrance to the walkway starts from the back of the metro football field. A hidden treasure in the middle of the city, unexplored by tourists and hence not much crowded. You'll see few locals for jogging or cycling. Ten minutes through the walk you'll see the oakley creek fall, though nothing exciting about it. However, considering it's the only water fall in Auckland city, it's worth visiting. Otherwise it's a beautiful serene walk, with lots of trees and shades.
Suits all age groups, even small kids. Paths are well tracked, maintained and signs provided to lead you. No public toilets in the vicinity btw.
It's open 24 hours but suggest not to walk in the dark as it's a secluded place.
