★ ★ ★ ★ ★ New Zealand is pretty huge on protecting their land which is a great thing! It also makes it very hard to find a place that isn’t overwhelmed by tourists. This place is wicked secluded. Super pretty! Really peaceful. Found by accident while driving by Otaio Cemetery Road - which is where we parked and walked the rest of the way down. Also this is not a place for more than one car as there really IS NOT actually parking spots. Sort of had to make-shift one while still allowing traffic to go by in the field.
There are cactus imbedded within the path on the way down to the beach - I fell and smushed my hand right on a cactus not fun. Cloud banks can roll in hard and look like a wild storm - it’s kind of scary like them movies ? I’ve never seen anything like it. I don’t want to say it’s just a pebble beach because it does thin out to where you can take off your shoes. Definitely some really color stones here. Majority black.
