Mel served us during our visit to Oceano for our honeymoon. The service put a smile on our face and made it a memorable evening. The food was great, definitely recommended if you are looking for a place to eat seafood.

β β β β β Although edible, the food was mediocre at best, honestly I had a better version of the same meal in the pub for 1/2 the price. The side chips were just terrible, they looked and tasted like they'd been cooked the day before. Change your oil chefs!!! Way too expensive for what was delivered. Oh and my friend and I ordered two cocktails from the menu... Wow they were bad. Hands down the two worst tasting cocktails of my whole life, they literally couldn't be finished. I know this is a terrible review but seriously sort out it out guys :/.

β β β β β Worst overpriced restaurant I have ever eaten at - Marlborough salmon $32 was so over salted and covered in spice I couldnβt taste the over cooked salmon; salt burnt my tongue and then sent it back and had the steak $38 - ordered medium rare scotch fillet and got so overdone it was grey and chewy; got given a free fizzy drink for the pain??? Donβt spent your money here!

β β β β β An excellent meal! Initially just the two of us until a tour of 30 or so and and other couple arrived.
The freshly made, slightly curry seafood chowder was superb, the moulles frites were brilliant, and the wine was really nice.
Friendly helpful staff.
The set menu the tour chose from even looked great.

β β β β β Very good food and a decent wine list. The service is what you would expect in a larger city 4 star hotel. The four of us have lived in Nelson for years, are in the wine business, and travel extensively. A good place to dine and far better than the noisy, cramped space and boring food served at many Nelson restaurants on Trafalgar St. Certainly not overpriced for top quality dining. Give it a try and you will enjoy.

β β β β β Went with a group of eight and our orders got messed up twice, the waiter was good about it and sorted it all out. But it was just ???? as there was only two other pairs of people in the restaurant at the time as well as our eight. Average food for the prices, fish n chips was just bland, the steak didn't say it came with cold pickled veggies. But the upside down apple pie "French connection" was amazing. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

β β β β β Very disappointed. The fish was bland and over cooked. My partnerβs steak was also over cooked and it seemed as if everything had been pre cooked and warmed up. The server was a trainee so there was no one to talk to about the food. I can honestly say it was the worst meal weβve had for a long time in New Zealand. It would be nice if our comments were taken on board for future customers.
