Nice place! I shared a mixed dorm with 2 other woman (it was really nice from them to put us single ladies in one room). The Owner seemed to be in a bad mood at first, but she chatted nicely with me and seems like an overall nice person.

Read some poor reviews on here and was a bit hesitant, but our stay was honestly wonderful. The lady who runs Pepper Tree Hostel was super sweet and we had some great conversations with her. Seems she's had a problem with people breaking the hostel rules, so I'd imagine the poor reviews are from those that aren't respectful guests. The hostel is close to the town central, and the distance is great because you can easily walk into town and check out the restaurants&shops without dealing with finding parking. Price is affordable, the house is very clean, and the owner gave us lots of suggestions for fun things to check out in the area. Highly recommended.

Very bad experience. The manager is a bit too rude in her language when conveying a message. It is not acceptable to speak to guests rudely. It is good to be cautious and careful about the health and safety regulations but just to protect the regulations you cannot be rude when telling the guest about some mistake they did. A bit more manner and politeness would have been appreciated. Unnecessary grumpy and rude behaviour. Because a rule was broken she said that we would be thrown out of the hostel. This is not the way to speak specially when you are in a hospitality industry you have to have some level of professionalism and manners which clearly were not present in the manager.

I don't like to post bad revieus and the host was kind of nice at some moments but this hostel is not for backpackers. The rules are really strict and you are thousands of kilometers from your home, sometimes you can count in some flexibility to cook like until 10 or leave a hostel without hurry at 10:30-11 but here no. I 'll not recommend it to friends or backpackers. Plus they don't wash the blanckets. Maybe the host will help you if you have serious problem but you fell really insecure of the host when have a lot of rules that cannot been flexible for make your life more simple, so you will fell like you cannot count in her. Plus the average age of costumers is 40 and you don't have a backpacker community like in other hostel. So if you are alone and in your 20's there are not a lot of options in Palmy but you have read my review

I was specifically warned not to stay at this place by other travelers. Unfortunately, the other backpacker was full and I had no choice but to stay one night. Sure enough, the lady who owns and runs the place is a grouch who really shouldn't be in the hospitality business. She is just plain rude to her guests, which might be why the place was nearly empty while the other backpacker in town was full up. Other than the management the place was cramped and sparsely furnished. I stayed in a 8 person bunk room that really should only be a 6 person room; it felt very cramped with only 3 of us! Plus there were only two power outlet plugs for the entire 8 person room, which is a major problem for any traveler who wants to charge electronics over night. You would have to leave items in the common area to charge. And the blankets aren't washed for every new guest (only the sheets) so you might be sleeping with a diseased blanket and never know it. Ovoid this place if you can.

Me and my boyfriend had a lovely stay here. Really spacious and well stocked kitchen, pretty good dining area and outdoor space too. Showers were hot and the TV/chill out space was perfect for a Saturday evening watching a film. To top it off the owner even shared some fresh veg and iced buns she had made. Those rules i'd read so much about turned out to be nothing but stated courtesy for other guests. There is a room that opens into the dining area, so there is a sign that says please be quiet in here between 10pm and 7:30am. You're not allowed to cook in the kitchen after 9pm either.

There are a lot of negative reviews here and I'm not sure why. I have stayed multiple times when passing through for work and have found the owner Cherie friendly and the facility basic but clean and functional. Will stay again, it's an excellent option when I just need a bed and don't want to pay for a motel that I'll hardly be awake in.

I do understand some of the other reviewers opinions. The lady does seem a bit strict and there are lots of rules. The place isn't that inviting and very quiet. Not a young backpacker hostel but well that's just what it is. The rooms are alright, the kitchen's alright, there's loads of space and its clean. It's minus two stars for the weird atmosphere for me but there sure is everything you need
