About Pets by Design
I was born in Tauranga and raised in Mount Maunganui with my Mum, Dad, older Brother and 2 cats.
As a child I enjoyed being active and played many sports including netball, soccer, inline hockey and rock climbing.
In 2005 I was selected to represent New Zealand at the world youth rock climbing championships in Beijing, China. It was an amazingly proud moment for me and I got to learn about the history of China and walk the great wall.
I’m also a single mum to my son, who like his mum loves science and when he grows up wants to become a scientist and make a cure for cancer.
I have a Pomeranian, Marty who is always by my side. Marty is full of energy and loves going for bushwalks and beach runs and relaxing at home on my lap at night time.
In my spare time I like to draw/ sketch and read. For the last few years I have been trying to write a novel (it’s a lot harder than I thought it would be)
I have always loved animals of all sizes and types in 2012 I completed a National certificate in animal care and Vet nursing at the BOP polytechnic.
In 2013 started working in the dog grooming industry as a bather, I have slowly worked my way up to being a groomer, I enjoy grooming because every day is different, with different breeds, temperaments and style cuts, you never know what’s around the corner. I’m proud of the confidence and skills I have gained in this time and look forward to furthering my grooming techniques.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I bought in a clients dog Mesha who is a 10yr old Samoyed x Finnish and very matted. Normally it would have been a shave down job but I’m not the owner and it’s winter so I couldn’t give permission for that but Jill and Andrea managed to work a miracle and by the time they were done Mesha was matted fur free, clean, sweet smelling and beautiful. I was so amazed that they were able to get the coat back to being the way they did. They really do deserve 200 out of 5 stars

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If I could give a minus 1 star I would, I dropped our dog of for a hair cut and using the recommended half length that was suggested to be taken of her. However, when we went to collect her, she looked absolutely disgusting, the owner was messaged and not accommodating in why she made such a lousey job. She told a lie to the owner when he called to collect his dog purely to make another sale. I would not recommend this place to anyone in the slightest bit and feel a total waste of time and money

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We just moved to Tauranga & chose this groomer form their website. Big mistake & would strongly advise others to look elsewhere. Groomer injured our dog by cutting two nails past the quick but did not bother to tell us, stating they thought they had fixed this with powder before we picked him up. Would suggest they tell people when they cause injury so they can properly care for their pet, not try to hide it. They also cut most of his tail and ears off, claiming he had knots when we asked why they had done this, which was definitely not true. Scummy shop, would never go back - website very misleading and disappointed in response from Manager.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic service. I took my cat in and she returned fluffy brushed well and smelling pretty. Apparently she gave them her grumpy look but that's her normal face lol.
They did an awesome job and I recommend them to all.
Once again brilliant service from the awesome staff. Just a quick clip of my sister's dogs nails this time. Thank you so much again highest recommendation.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent Groomers. My miniature Schnauzer was a mess when we took him in. Matting from getting in the garden and sticky weeds stuck in his fur. No extra charge was incurred unlike other groomers i've used so I appreciated that. They also took him today even though I had misheard on the phone and he wasn't actually booked in for another 7 days. Very good service and he looks absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The groomer only took a small amount off. There was tuffs of long hair in places and nothing was taken off along the sides of his belly where there is longer hair. I wouldn't recommend this business..
