★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great pizzas, awesome beer, unparalleled location, super friendly staff...stop reading and just go there.
We visited last evening after the Mercer Loop walk. Super hungry, so opted for the chicken chipotle pizza... terrific crust, sauce & toppings (love coriander). Beer was much needed after the long hike. Our order for fries got delayed and we were a bit tied on time so the staff promptly refunded us. It's small acts like these that really stay with you and Piha Cafe sure did a great job. We would visit again for sure.

The girl who served me didn’t know what was in the burgers and when i asked for a milkshake she said “we don’t make those” while another waitress was making one behind her. Tables not cleaned, and no assertive table service/ check ins going on. Food was good. The staff just came across as confused and inexperienced.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The most **amazing** wood-fired pizzas - so hard to pick a favourite, but leaning towards the Pork Belly & Kumara... Small range of wines, but a good selection. Fast, friendly service. You can dine-in, but the cafe is right by Lion Rock, so can also recommend take-away down to the beach...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is a lovely place to go for breakfast and lunch, dinner. Service was good and didnt have to wait too long. Piha is right next to the cafe so u can walk aling our beautiful ocean beach. The road there, rhough windy is a beautiful drive. People are aloud to bring theirdods to the cafe as long as they sit outside in the closed in outside seating

They have several local beers and kombucha on tap, as well as bottled drink options.
They have a great coffee bar, and good options for brunch, if you prefer to go there earlier in the day.
Our dinner was pretty fantastic! My wife had the risotto, which was prepared perfectly and flavorful, and I had the baked flounder dish served with veggies and hand cut chips. The flounder was flavorful, moist, and delicious!
The service was friendly and attentive. We ordered our drinks at the counter, then they were quickly delivered to our table. Our entrees took about 20 minutes, since we were fairly early and the kitchen had just opened.
The restaurant has free parking out front, indoor and outdoor seating, and even a charging station if you have an electric car!
We were not disappointed at all, and will definitely return here for drinks and dinner soon! We also want to try out the brunch menu and coffee, too.
They have pizzas on the menu, and available for carry out, also!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I can only say: best pizza I have eaten in two years of being in New Zealand. It can almost compare to Italian pizza standards - very very close. A perfectly crunchy, thin crust and good quality tomato sauce and ingredients on top. They can even pull off a margarita. Also nice beer from the tap, nice cakes and a very nice place to sit and enjoy an afternoon. Lovely super friendly staff as well.
