Very disappointing! Photos are not representing what the place is right now. Poor maintenance, bad smell in common areas. I wouldn't recommend this accomodation at all.

Run down dirty unsafe feel not suitable for children or families I would truely recommend bulldozing The photos are extremely misleading Outside its unkempt weeds and rubbish everywhere. The building looks abandoned. I really feel conned The backpacker area smells of strong mold I found it impossible to breathe, the furniture was completely worn and should be at the tip Read the other reviews Cannot get a refund might stay one night and abandon I will voluntarily forfiet the remaining 6 nights for my own safety and health

Needs maintenance attention, basement is loose, tapps loose, unit dirty, bed not in good condition aswell as pillows, would defnitely recomend someone to take care of inspections of units, back yard looks dirty and untidy, no proper smoke area, i woke up 3 times during morning of smoking smell of people staying next to us smoking.

Stayed there for a while, a few years ago. Nice to be out of the city & by the beach. They have bicycle's to ride. If you're travelling around NZ in your own vehicle, you can stay in the car park & use the facilities, but not sure of the cost. Probably not much. Was not that bad there! The temporary permanents there because HousingNZ.gov forced some tenants out so they could sell some increased value stock. Paying for their accommodation until something else permanent is available. Not their fault, but it ruined the vibe of staying there. I felt like I was invading their space. I cooked up a big pot of Lentil & veg curry, which was greatly appreciated. Nice bunch, but could tell the situation was making them stressed out. ? Some of them were volunteering at a charity meals kitchen & bought back a nice evening meal, so I got to try a native Spinach type vegetable. ?

Dirty, run down not at all like the photos. Not a family friendly lodge rather an emergency housing centre now. Tv no good, no usable outside furniture. Garden view was a selling point but in reality an unkempt area. We booked as a family but it felt very 'unsafe' for the kids. Would not recommend this place and the photos are clearly misleading and outdated. Not suitable as it is

Do Not Stay Here It is Dodgy as and Believe it is a Bail House for MOJ, your stuff will get stolen and it is Scary and Disgusting I cant believe that I booked it through Booking.com there needs to be some standard. I am trying to get a refund but don't like my chances, wish I had read the Reviews the bad ratings go back for years, how can they keep operating the only reason would be that they get some income from the Govt.

We were truly disappointed by the place. The facilities were very outdated and not very well maintained. The kitchen was especially the most disgusting area. Even though it was tidy it was not clean and the microwave had yet not been replaced ever though there were already reviews showing how it was blown out with a black crater in it. I think that what made our experience worse was that there were many people smoking in the rooms, there were non guests coming into the rooms all the time, and the lounge area had a very bad smell. The good things about it were that the bathrooms and showers were clean and well maintained and the location with walking distance to the beach was great.

Judging by the photos on the Booking.com website. Arrived in a dirty, run-down. Don't feel safe there. My mate and I checked in after 2 mins, decided to leave. Not worth it. I do understand that there are other permanent guests living. It is excellent to provide a place for them to live, but it needs to be appropriately advertised, and people need to be well informed prior to arrival. Please update your photos, and those images online are deceiving. Clearly, It is some sort of emergency housing property. It is tough to operate during a pandemic. False advertising should not even be allowed on Booking.com. I don't even bother to ask for a refund. To sum up, please be aware to avoid massive disappointment. I am not here to bad month the property to state facts.
