★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely new hut. Facilities are great - 4 bunk rooms some bigger/smaller, kitchen is a good size with plenty of seats. Not much around once you're there but the views are beautiful on a clear day and at night the lights from Masterton and Carterton twinkle. Apparently you can also see the lighthouse at castlepoint

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice new hut, The hut has gas cooking facilitys, solar powered lights and a nice deck to lookout on. The hut was nice and warm and we didn't have the wood burner going. But make sure you book as the hut can get booked fast. We went Tuesday and the hut was nearing capacity.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the nicest huts you’ll come across. The views across the range and of the Wairarapa are incredible, and the facilities are brilliant. Warm, solar lighting, and a deck as big as most huts.
Almost too nice for a tramping experience.
Gets very crowded, and there’s not really anywhere to pitch a tent if full.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An amazing walk up to the hut. Took my 11 year old but maybe not for children much younger than that. The view is amazing and the hut has gas stoves, power and WiFi. The walk is also doable as a day trip in and out. We have lunch at the hut and then walk out again

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great views! Modern Hut but the wood for the stove was wet so was hard to keep it going. Need to use the thin rectangular metal cover that was adjacent to the stove to create a good draft to get the fire going well enough to stay alight with the door shut.
