★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed for a night and definitely wished it was a bit longer. I don’t know how we sum it up! Firstly the host was amazing and was really helpful in terms of checking we were okay, good initial orientation information and generally really nice. The cottage itself was beautiful inside and out. There was heaps of special touches like the bug spray available which we needed when sitting outside in our private front grass area! Going down to the river was quite a thrill with the slightly steep climb - luckily the host had warned us before we arrived to bring good sneakers to conquer this. The riverside bath was also excellent, very relaxing. Overall a really peaceful night stay so would recommend if this is what you looking for. We will be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rose is just a great host and was super helpful and friendly to us during our stay there. The cottage is pretty awesome The loft bed is huge and comfy. The small wood burner is a great touch. The area is absolutely beautiful. I recommend everyone head down to the river and just chill out for a bit. We hope to be back soon.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The photos don’t do this place justice. We stayed at both the Glade and the Bankside cottages. The location next to the river, nestled in the bush is so serene. There are many wonderful hidden gems to explore. The cottages are cosy with special touches everywhere you look. Rose had beautiful flowers everywhere. There are books, games and night gazing binoculars. The most accommodating hosts. We felt so grateful to be able to spend time there as a family.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a magical little cottage with private access to a stunning river. So much thought and care has been put into the property, both inside and outside and Rosie is a wonderful host - thoughtful and friendly but also very respectful of your privacy. There are stunning walks in the area but there's really no need to leave the property with it's beautiful native plantings, outdoor sitting areas, views of the river and best of all, the outdoor bath. You absolutely have to take a bath and watch the sun go down over the river. Less than 2 hours from Wellington, this is an easy and perfect way to escape the city and enjoy a little off grid living. We can't wait to return.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a very beautiful slice of heaven in Wairarapa! Rose and Dan did an amazing job in building this sanctuary. The cottage was well-designed and the surroundings provided countless opportunities to relax the body and uplift the soul. Their side of the river is just spectacular! ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My partner and I run a very busy cafe in Masterton and wanted to get away for a couple of nights as we hardly ever get the time. This stay was better than we could’ve ever asked for. Rose was so accommodating and wanted nothing but the best for our holiday. We needed an off grid experience to truly relax but also have modern amenities. We’re city girls at heart so having the combination of nature but fancy works for us. I would highly recommend staying here, so much so we bought a two night stay for our friends (also small business owners) as it did so much for our mental health and clarity. Thanks ☺️ we will definitely be seeing you again ❤️

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We booked for 3 nights over New Years, we were met on arrival and shown the workings of the off grid set up. The cottage is small and cosy but it comes with everything that you require for an amazing relaxing get away. There are many places you can wander to on the property to spend time and unwind. We loved the private swimming hole in the river (Rose had even put a beanbag by the river for us to relax in the sun). All of the little bits were what made the trip, biscuits in the jar, different areas set up so it’s like dining at a different place each meal, a loft bed you get to via a ladder. We spent a lot of time relaxing outside on a blanket or the beanbag
We would recommend this place to anyone wanting a break away where there is so much to do (or not do, your choice), you only need to provide your food and the rest is all sorted for you. Rose was an amazing host.
