★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is so amazing, I can't recommend it enough. It has a lovely vibe and aesthetic and the food is *amazing* - totally worth the price. The service is fantastic too, the staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. It seems like the owner really cares about the staff and looks after them which is wonderful to see. 11/10 would recommend, my favourite restaurant in Dunedin

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great start to the night. Well received and shown to the bar while our table was prepared. Friendly bar service, interesting and colour decor.
However our meals were mediocre. My wife had lamb rump and wasn't given the opportunity to say how she wanted it cooked. It was under done and had about 25% fat.
My steak was average for a supposedly aged cut.
Also very expensive. $40 just for meat and sides on top.
Overall not value for money.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pretty much up there in my top ten dining experiences ever. To start with, the service was exceptional from perusing the menu outside being greeted by a warm cheery welcome, to when we left with a tip for a great cocktail bar to visit. Our waitress, Georgia, was beyond incredible. She was so funny, patient, and had a fantastic energy about her. She even talked me through the dry aged steaks on display, and made recommendations.
This brings me to the food. My fiancé and I treated ourselves to a delicious tomahawk steak. It was cooked perfectly, theatrically caramelised at our table with a torch, and a finishing touch of jus. Bloody ripper, that thing. Your chefs are wizards. We went with triple fried chips, broccolini, and mac and cheese for sides. All of which were fantastic, but the stand out for me was the flavours in the mac and cheese. It was heavenly. If I had any room in my stomach left, I would have gone another bowl.
Anyway, I’ve raved about this place to anyone that would listen. If people ask me where to get the best meal in Dunedin, no where else but Prohibition Smokehouse comes to mind. Thank you for being amazing!

I had the 250g ribeye with honey mustard butter and mushroom suj, followed by the “Nanna’s rice pudding”, both of which were amazing, especially the steak. The short ribs and especially the pecan tart were also really tasty. The cauliflower was good, but nothing to write home about. I also had the “Adam-and Eve” mocktail which was expensive for only a little bit of liquid, although it did taste really good. Amazing atmosphere, definitely recommend for a fine dining service.

Service was also outstanding and our waitress was very friendly and hospitable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food was delectable and delicious! We were a table of three (we made a booking in advance), and with two big plates, one small plate, a starter and am extra we had more than enough food to amongst us! We squeezed in two desserts which was fantastic too.
Definitely excited to try more items from the menu!
