Outside seating is very pleasant but this is probably the only thing that I like. I have been there twice and the food was not tasty at all. First I ordered eggs on toast that came with a BBQ sauce and plain white cheapest toast. Second time I ordered eggs benedict and the hollandaise sauce tasted like they used margarine rather than butter. I haven't tried any cake but I don't think I will be going there again for food. There're way better cafes around the city where food is fabulous. Coffee was OK though.

Very disappointed this cafe has been sold. I loved their home style cooking and especially the variety of gluten free sweet and savoury. Macaroni cheese and cannelloni. Now it is just a bland same old cafe like the rest of Christchurch.

It was OK. I had the Brown Rice Salad. It was yummy. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Took my friend for coffee, she has a walking frame, she has MS and cant walk very far. We decided to sit outside. She got stuck going down the small step down. It was embarrassing for her and she needed help . The food was lovely, but the lady who took our order was abrupt and almost rude. We ordered to share and asked for an extra plate, she said "no to save dishes", blue vein cheese crumbs dont go nice on your chocolate brownie. Such a shame cos the food was beautiful. My friend rang up later that day to ask if a small ramp could be put there to help people with disabilities. She was told no because if you walk down to the garden center entrance there's no step. My friend can't walk that far. Yes she could go in a wheelchair but she likes to be as independent as she can.

Vet quick service. The cafe was bustling at 11:40 am on a Tuesday. The food was hot, scrumptious, and filling. The little bacon and egg pie is delicious.

This has quickly become one of our firm favourites, with it being close to home, and the amazing coffee and food. We had the Red Eight breakfast, and the Eggs Bennie with Salmon. By the completely shiny plates at the end it was safe to say it was delish. We normally have a coffee and the blue cheese and caramelised onion scones each, but decided on the full brekkie with the long weekend. The scones are a taste sensation and substantial. Highly recommended- staff are awesome as well.

My wife and I enjoyed a great lunch at Red Eight Portstone yesterday. We were both impressed with the inviting selection of cabinet food on offer. We were pleased to see GF and Dairy free options and our coconut flat whites hit the mark for quality coffees. The cafe has a nice light bright atmosphere and the staff are friendly.

Wonderful lunch. Excellent value. Only cabinet food due to pandemic. Appreciated sanitiser at table. Great pricing and will be back.
