Avoid like the plague. Dull and charmless event, with any fun being sucked out the place by the shyster owners. The entire place stinks like a scam, the organisers doing the bare minimum to set up a very basic event while charging more than 3 day festivals anywhere else on the globe. Don't get me wrong, people are friendly and nothing bad has happened to prompt this review. I just cannot believe i wasted my time and money spending new years eve in such a middle of the road farce. Downsides: Overpriced ticket price for 2 day line up Not anywhere near enough acts for 2 days Jokeworthy alcohol policy, helping contribute to the morgue like atmosphere Selling 2/3rds of a pint for 8 dollars Approx 4 food vans, duplicated across the site Limited toilets, nowhere near enough for the numbers expected Open plan showers, visible to the entire site Poor layout of site, claims to have 4 stages but 2 of those stages are small soundstages placed close together. When you consider the resources available, the mind boggles as to why the layout is so retarded No festival shops or tobacco on sale. This place is perfect if you're 18 and want your first festival experience or simply want to turn up so you can instagram your way through a festival. The place is awful if you're anything older than 18 or have been to any other musical event in the world. If you're reading this wondering whether you should choose this or R&V then it's a no brainer. Or you could do what every south islander has done and go the festival in Nelson. The sooner this festival crashes and burns off the radar, the better. The music industry could only benefit if the organisers sod off away from anything musical and try their hand at something more apt, like loan sharking. Truly disappointing, pitiful waste of time.

Nice venue, very happy vibes! Good food, drink selection was alright. Flushing portaloos would have been better

This review is based solely on the cashless system R&A use for in festival purchase. When you arrive at R&A and upon confirmation of your ticket you are issued with a wrist band, this then becomes not only your ticket but the only way to carry out in festival purchases. To add credit to the wrist band you first need to activate it, this comes with a $3 charge. Now considering R&A have chosen to run the festival in this way it's kind of a scam to then charge people who have already payed for their tickets just to activate a payment method they have been given no alternative to. No doubt R&A profit from this, as while I understand removing the cash element, why not just use paywave? As the festival went on the system didn't decrease que times at the bar or food vendors but instead just created new queues at the top up stations, so again other than profiteering, how does this system improve the festival experience? Finally as if to really take the p*** you have to wait until a refund link opens to retrieve money you've not spent on your wrist band and guess what, you have to pay for that pleasure too a $3.50 fee is deducted from your remaining balance, and if you don't have over the minimum $3.50 charge guess who's not getting their money back, so again R&A and associates scam an extra fee bucks. Oh and if you cut your wrist band after the festival or lost it, well sadly your wrist band has the required unique 14 digit code on the back to retrieve your unspent cash...so you lose again. Finally I would again stress this review is based solely upon cashless payment system and has no reflection on other elements of the festival.

Fun and well run event. The beer system kind if sucks and is set up for the patron to waste money on cups and leftover funds. Not sure how anyone sleeps there though. Paid to camp in our campervan but had to leave due to volume of dance music at night. Would have been better if music area and camper area were further apart.
