★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Restaurant Review: it was absolutely the best vegetarian dish I’ve ever had in New Zealand. Everything was just simple but so fresh and delicious. Local wine options on tap!!!! Beverage was mostly sourced locally. Love the concept of the business with having their own garden and bringing them straight to the table, also focusing on eco-friendliness and sustainability. Staff were lovely and helpful. Excellent interiors.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the best place I’ve ever stayed. It’s not the place for you if you want pretentious service or wasteful extravagance. Everything about the Sherwood is full of heart. It was a nice surprise that because we booked direct we got a credit to spend with them.
The staff are amazing, the rooms are stylish and kind to the planet, the meals are outstanding - they took French radish picked from their garden that day and turned it into the most incredible starter. For breakfast I had oats but they were so good!
Book a massage with Renata. Have the dinner where they bring a selection of plates.
We walked into town one day for lunch - it tools 45 mins, but we had a hire car for exploring too. I got home and immediately booked another stay :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not the place to stay if you are after room service and fancy amenities of the likes but a good stay none the less. The king rooms with lake view could do with an updated bathroom that doesn’t flood the entirety plus the entrance way and perhaps a bigger vanity but the room itself was lovely, cosy, retro and hip. Parking is great. Amenities on site, great.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We could not recommend the Sherwood enough. Staff were lovely and helpful, rooms were beautiful with a comforting ambience, the restaurant was cosy and the food divine. Sustainability efforts are thought out and completely followed through, you can tell it really is at the heart of what they do. We will return time and time again. Thank you!!!
