What an awesome time we had in this place. It was nothing short of perfect. wonderful warm host and hostess, who are not just cute but are vibrant, bubbly, and oh sooooooo warm. I met my lost family member in Paik. Not often you go to someone's home and acclimatize into a family member. But that is how we felt here. Extremely clean ,super modern , and a place I wish I could call home. And the surroundings..... heaven. Million percent my favorite home away from home. Where do I start... When you close your eyes and picture a BnB (for better or for worse), thoughts of springy, cheap beds, rough towels, forced awkward conversations. Half-assed breakfasts are laboured over linoleum kitchen floors by a jaded host are experiences that tend to pop into my mind. Well, this is 2015 folks - Roy and Paik seem to acknowledge that fact & have really packaged up a delightful experience at their stunning home in Kerikeri. Simply put, during my 2 day stay with them, they defied every BnB Stereotype I had in my head since childhood. Every element of the stay was completely 5 star - the breakfasts were thoughtful and memorable, with Paik offering up 3 different varieties of museli, fresh fruits, and a full American breakfast served with preserves made from fruits coming from her own garden. Roy steps in and spices things up with great conversation & wonderful recommendations, but without being too overbearing or nosy. Take a walk with him and Sascha (their great dog) and chat about the expatriate life in New Zealand. The room itself was very well furnished & modern, the white padded carpet throughout was soft & high quality. I fell straight to sleep on a comfortable bed with 6 Fluffy feather down pillows on it, and woke up to a view over a 5th generation 1,000 acre farm that's picturesque countryside at it's finest. The bathroom is stunning - marble mosaic on the walls & a solid travertine sink, heated towel racks & a quality rain shower head. They had a fast internet connection with tons of blu-ray movies to choose from for entertainment, but I enjoyed conversing with them too much to turn on the TV. Their pool was clean & is swimmable during the summer, and the guest rooms are on their own side of the estate so there's plenty of privacy to be had if you need it. Don't waste your time with the hotels & motels in the area on your northland visit, go up and see Roy and Paik for an experience you will remember!

A stunning, clean, modern, luxurious sanctuary awaits. Paik and Roy are beautiful hosts and welcome you with open arms into their stunning home. I did not want to leave. The rural vistas are simply breathtaking and the pool is fantastic. I will be back with my family to share in the wonderful manaakitanga (care and hospitality) and aroha (love) Paik and Roy provide. Breakfast was delicious and all of my needs catered to. This is a relaxing oasis. Thank you Paik, Roy and Sacha. Kore mutu rawa ngā mihi. I can't thank you enough.

River stone lodge is way more than a bed and breakfast. It is luxurious and super clean whilst having the feel of staying in a friends house. Roy and Paik are lovely people, always happy to help and great company when you fancy a chat. We booked this last minute after a hotel lost our booking and really landed on our feet. We will definitely be back, again and again.

The photos of this home-away-from-home show the modern and visually stimulating architecture of a charming place to stay while visiting Kerikeri. But beyond the obvious visual pleasures, the hosts for this wonderful destination, Paik and Roy significantly enhanced our visit. They provided knowledge and wisdom about both the region and New Zealand and, philosophically, added perspective about the values of life--the reason one stays in homes with people instead of a sterile hotel! New Zealand is a breath of fresh air with plants, birds and nature. These enlightened hosts set a benchmark in our decades of traveling. We recommend this accommodation.

My stay with Paik & Roy was like visiting old friends. They are generous, thoughtful, considerate and inclusive...whether inviting me to join them for dinner, a community gathering or watching television in their plush home theater, I had the most wonderful time and could have easily stayed another month in their stunning, modern, clean and extremely comfortable home. Their home is also in a great location to head out to explore the natural beauty of New Zealand and there is so much to experience in Northland! But I have to say, it was my wonderful hosts who made my trip extremely memorable and I look forward to visiting again!

We had a great stay here. Everything is clean and well looked after. The hosts are very nice people and everything was very uncomplicated about our stay. I want to give this more stars but the rooms were very hot and the windows wouldn’t open all the way to let some cold air in. On top of that the mattress I slept on was incredibly hard. In combination with the hot air in the room I would wake up multiple times throughout the night. Other than that, we enjoyed everything about our stay.
